Cloudflare reported losing 55% of logs sent to customers over a 3.5-hour period on November 14, 2024, due to a bug in its log collection service. A misconfiguration in the Logfwdr component caused logs to be discarded, and subsequent failsafes failed to handle the resulting spike in data, overwhelming the buffering system. Cloudflare has since implemented measures, including better misconfiguration detection and buffer system adjustments, to prevent future incidents.
